Kids have been fascinated by trains - they count the cars at a crossings, step back in awe as the giant engine approaches a whistle stop and race to climb aboard the miniature zoo train. A fascination begins - and never ends - big trains, little trains, model trains!

In this project we will buy a 'G' gauge loco but build the rest from common materials using tested methods. This in turn will teach correct use of tools and techniques, i.e., the band saw, sander or soldering, using a jig and even a 110v branch circuit.

The end result will be fun for the kids, a complete running model train built by little hands, and the discovery of industrial skills.
The fascination of railroading!.
